WMCA Standard Update
Effective June 1st the new WCMA standard for corded windows, ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022, will impact many products in CACO’s product line. Per the new standard, after June 1st products can no longer be produced with cord locks and products with loop controls must be provided with additional safety compliance. As a result, important updates need to be made to make our products compliant.
Order Dates
To ensure we are in full compliance with the standard we need to announce that after the following dates we will not be accepting new orders for any products with options that are not compliant with the WCMA standard.
April 26th
- Boone Cellular Shades – After April 26th cord control will not be available. All blinds will be manufactured cordless standard. Available options for motorized and clutch/loop control with a new compliant cord tension device will still be available.
May 10th
- Avalon Faux Wood – After May 10th cord control will not be available. All blinds will be manufactured cordless with wand control.
- Delta Wood – After May 10th cord control will not be available. All blinds will be manufactured cordless with wand control
- Designer Natural Woven Woods – After May 10th cord control will not be available. The standard option will be cordless, however options for motorized and clutch/loop control with a new compliant cord tension device will be available. Additionally, TDBU, Upended headrail and Dual Shades will no longer be available.
- Signature Series Aluminum Blinds – Program will be discontinued and we will be introducing a brand-new cordless aluminum blind program in the next few weeks. Corded aluminum blinds will be available as inventories permit.
Additionally, some products will have little change as a result of the standard.
- Cordless Fast Faux – are already compliant and will not be affected by the changes.
- Serenity Roller Shades – available with current options but a new compliant cord tension device will be provided.
- Dual Sheer Shades – available with current options but a new compliant cord tension device will be provided.
- Sheerview Shades – available with current options but a new compliant cord tension device will be provided.
Also note that we will not be able to remake shades or blinds with malfunctioning cord locks after the dates listed above. We will offer to repair these shades or to replace them with a cordless or clutch control and will work on a case-by-case basis to determine the best outcome for our customers.
Guide Updates and Additional Information
We are working diligently to update all price guides and will provide new digital price guides to reflect the product changes as soon as possible.
